Since Chen founded Spring Wind Art Theatre and served as the artistic director, she has always held the goal of ¡§exploring new artists, mounted the theatres that connect closely with the society nowadays.¡¨ Almost all performing groups active in Kao Hsiung have participated in and been nurtured by theatre seminars and experimental theatre exhibitions launched by Spring Wind Art Theatre. Chen has a BA degree in history at National Cheng Kung University. She got married at the age of twenty-three and has led a happy marriage life since then. She had never been in the theatrical field before thirty and at the age of thirty, she devoted herself into theatre in Kao Hsiung, where cultural industry had not yet been highly developed. She co-founded Spying Wind Art Workshop with a group of talented but poor people. One year after, they left for the cruel reality one by one, leaving behind a table, a telephone set and couples of proposals filled with dreams and Tsu-yang Chen. This is the pre-model of Spring Wind Art Theatre. Since 1991, Spring Wind Art Theatre regularly launches two to three times theatre workshops, exhibitions and more than three original theatrical pieces each year. It has become one of the performing groups sponsored and supported by Council of Cultural Affairs.
