李小平

Li graduated from Taiwan College of the Arts and Luguang Drama School. He is presently studying in the Graduate Institute of Drama at Taiwan National University of the Arts. He was awarded the best director of xichu(traditional Chinese opera) by Chinese Association of the Arts in 1995. He used to be member of the Luguang as well as Fuxing Chinese Opera Group. He was also the founding member of The Contemporary Legend Theatre. He is currently the rehearing director of the National Guogang Chinese Theatre Company. The types of his works, spanning between modern and traditional theatre, are quite diverse. In addition, he devotes himself to art education and actively promotes xichu in campuses. Among his most distinguished works, there are traditional Chinese operas, such as The Monkey King presented at 1998¡¦s Avignon Art Festival by Guogang Chinese Theatre Company, Dream of Yanlo: The Lord of Hell, Wang Xifeng¡¦s Romping in the House of Ningguo, and Li Shimin and Weizheng; experimental Chinese operas, Wang Youdao Divorcing his Wife, and Macbeth A Puppet Theatre; Taiwanese operas, Taiwan Trilogy: Liao Tianding and When Balloon Flowers Blossom; modern theatre, Wu E presented in People¡¦s Heart Theatre; Children¡¦s musical Sleeping Beauty, and Little Red Riding Hood; and finally musicals Liang Zhu and Joyous Yuanyang Lo, both adapted from classical Chinese plays.
